Long time resident, and descentant of early settlers Rollie Schmitten has just published a book on the early history of Lake Wenatchee. The book is available at the Midway Market, Plain Hardware and Ridgeline Graphics in Wenatchee. Here is Rollie’s description of the goal of the book.

The book was a 4 year labor ofAuthor: Rob Shurtleff. The long-time Cashmere resident held a signing on July 18 for the second pressing of his book, “Lake Wenatchee Early History,” published around May this year. The book sold out of its first copies in just 20 days. The second pressing of copies is already 60% sold, he said.

The failing of the book is in the editing. Pages are overwhelmed with quotation marks, overused and misused commas, and so on. It all just makes a very interesting book hard to read with all of the distractions. The below is an example from one page picked at s: 4.
